Known as the 'Conscience of Bicol', the 425 year old settlement established by the Spanish conquistoadores in the heart of Bicol, which is known today as Iriga City, is among the few fast growing urban centers in the Bicol Peninsula.
Nestled at the foot of the fabled Mt. Iriga (4,823 ft. high), Iriga City's population of 88,893 is one Bicol Region's meanest, growing at an average of 1.9% per year.
Iriga City is also the proud home of Philtranco, the former ALATCO - the Philippines' first and oldest bus company. Hence, it is Iriga, which became a chartered city in 1968, which is considered as the birthplace of organized land transportation business in the Philippines.
For this reason, the Philtranco Transport Heritage Musem, the Philippines' first and only museum of its kind is located in Iriga City.
This website, IRIGA CITY AND THE WORLD, hopes to provide a strong linkage between the city and its sons and daughters who might have found opportunities elsewhere in the world but remained Irigueños come what may.
Magtarabang-tabang kita, mga taga-Iriga! Mabuhay!
