The Iriga dialect is the lingua franca, but English, Filipino, and Bikol are also widely spoken.

The Philippine National Police, Iriga station, has been named as the "Best Police Station" for three consecutive years (1995-1997), propping its enviable position as the region's most peaceful city. It has also been chosen as the Cleanest and Greenest City in the region for the past four years, and a national finalist in as much number as of years of the program.
